Ingersoll Rand
Ingersoll Rand is a major manufacturer in the construction vehicle industry. With a diversified product offering, the company has been able to stay profitable and at the top of the industry since being founded in 1871.
Even though the company has been in business since 1871, it was not until 1905 that it became known as Ingersoll Rand. This was due to a combination of two companies: Ingersoll-Sergeant Drill Company and Rand Drill Company.
聽At this time, Ingersoll Rand has its headquarters in Bermuda. The company鈥檚 operations and executive offices are located in Montvale, New Jersey. The company believes in global diversification and this goes well beyond its location.
Although Ingersoll Rand is involved in many industries, their primary focus is on the manufacturing of mining and construction equipment. Some of their most popular products include: compressors, tractors, rollers, pavers, wheel loaders, excavators, and backhoes.
Ingersoll Rand is involved with other industries as well. They manufacturer products under other well known names such as: Trane, Club Car, Hussmann, Falcon Door Hardware, Thermo King, Cisa, and Normbau. Despite the fact that the company has their hands in many other industries, the majority of their $17 billion in revenue (2008) comes from their construction equipment manufacturing business.
Ingersoll Rand products are sold through a dealer network that expands the globe. As a multinational company, not only are their products available worldwide but they are produced in a number of different countries.
Herbert L. Henkel is the current CEO of Ingersoll Rand. With more than 64,000 employees, the company is one of the largest in its industry trailing only Caterpillar which has roughly 100k workers.
Since Simon Ingersoll founded the Ingersoll Rock Drill Company in 1871, the company has been growing thanks to expanded offerings, high quality products, and acquisitions.
